Meet Ann Wilson

Plants have always been a part of who I am. Growing up in a small, crowded apartment, I didn’t have the luxury of a garden, but I was always drawn to nature. I remember my grandmother’s windowsill—packed with all kinds of plants—being my sanctuary whenever I visited her. She taught me how to care for them, and that’s when I first realized how much life they bring to a home. Even when space is tight, having something green and living can change everything. That connection stayed with me, and I carried it into adulthood. I studied design, but plants were always my true passion, quietly flourishing in every room of my home. After years of sharing my love for houseplants with friends and family, I knew I wanted to create something bigger—a space where others could find the same peace and joy in plants that I do.

That’s how Rooted Indoors was born. It’s more than just a blog; it’s a reflection of my journey and my belief that anyone, regardless of their space or experience, can create their own indoor garden. I started Rooted Indoors to make plant care accessible and fun for everyone, whether you’re just starting out or you’re a seasoned plant parent. I want to show that plants aren’t just decoration—they’re living companions that can calm your mind and brighten your home. Through practical tips, care guides, and styling ideas, I hope to help people turn their homes into green sanctuaries, just like I did. It’s not about perfection; it’s about finding beauty in the small, quiet moments that plants bring into our lives.

How it all started

Rooted Indoors started as a personal journey for me. I’ve always loved being surrounded by greenery, and over the years, my collection of indoor plants grew, along with my passion for learning how to care for them. It became more than just a hobby—it was a way to create a calm, vibrant space in my home. As I shared tips and tricks with friends and family, I realized there were so many people out there who wanted to learn more about indoor gardening but didn’t know where to start. That’s when I decided to launch Rooted Indoors, a blog where I could share my experiences, plant care advice, and design ideas with others who wanted to bring the beauty of plants into their homes.

What began as a small project quickly gained momentum. I’ve always wanted to make plant care feel approachable, even for beginners, so I focused on breaking down the basics in an easy-to-understand way. I also share my personal stories, like the times I’ve struggled with keeping certain plants alive or the joy of watching a new leaf unfurl. Over time, Rooted Indoors has grown into more than just a resource for plant care—it’s a space where I can connect with a community of fellow plant lovers and celebrate the joy that indoor plants bring to our homes.
